Relationship among Working type, Violence and Discrimination in the Workplace: The Fifth Korean Working Conditions Survey

Abstract

|
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate working type, violence and discrimination of workplace in Korea with the Fifth Korean Working Conditions Survey(KWCS).
Methods: This study was an analysis of secondary data based on the KWCS conducted by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency in 2017. The collected data was analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. The difference between the working type, violence and discrimination according to the general characteristics was analyzed as chi-square test. The correlation between working type, violence and discrimination was analyzed by Pearson's correlation coefficient.
Results: Violence was correlated with same working time for day, same working time slot for weeks. Also violence was correlated with discrimination. Discrimination was correlated with Same commuting time and Shift assignment.
Conclusions: This study analyzes the working patterns of workers and the current status of violence and discrimination in the workplace and suggests providing basic data on measures to reduce workplace violence and discrimination.
